Lovely dog friendly hotel with great quality food We had a lovely one night stay at Ernespie Hotel. As previous reviews have stated the owner and wider family who work there are one of the main draws of the hotel. Very friendly and attentive to our wee dog who we had with us! The food was also lovely - we had one of the curries which was lovely! Waitress couldn’t have been more helpful also! There were also lots of lovely touches throughout the hotel and very clean and comfy! Only reason for 4 stars - bathroom was a bit cold and draughty which is I guess one of the possible challenges when trying to heat a big old building. Would like to try the pods some time but the main dining area was certainly very warm and welcoming! Date of stay - March 2024

As a special treat, our short stay at Ernespie House Hotel ticked all our boxes. I booked a two-night stay at Ernespie House Hotel as a birthday treat for my wife and myself, early January 2024. We were absolutely delighted with the hotel and its friendly staff, and the dinner & breakfasts served during our stay were well prepared and presented. We'd booked a standard double bedroom but on arrival, the owner, Shashank, said we'd been given the four-poster bedroom since it was unoccupied at the time - at no extra charge! The south-facing view from our room across the open countryside was also very special. The weather was cold at the time but our bedroom & en-suite bathroom were well-heated and very comfortable. The lounge/dining area was also very cosy with its wood-burning stove adding to the overall warm ambience of the room. In summary, we would thoroughly recommend a stay in this hotel with its close location to the attractive town of Castle Douglas and surrounding Dumfries & Galloway region.
